--Annalise Stalls leading (on her sax) Zen Poets at Sharp Nine 8p. I haven't heard her live, but now that she's moved from Greensboro to Hillsboro & studying at NCCU, I suspect we'll see more of her.
--Doug Largent is at Irregardless with his organ trio.
--Gregg Gelb leads La Fiesta (with Stephen Anderson) at C Grace 9p.
--The G2B Gastropub reignites its weekend jazz with saxist Keenan McKenzie 8p after a jazzless summer.
--The Al Strong Quartet does its thing at Cuban Revolution 9:30.
Now I admit that my Friday calendar has things like the Hopscotch Fest in Raleigh & the National Folk Fest in Greensboro, but even the five jazz perfs above test my calendar space.
I plan to take in Zen Poets &--my major recommendation this week--singer Lois Deloatch at Sharp Nine Saturday at 7 & 9 (yup, two sets). She doesn't have time to perform that often so it's wise to catch up with her.
