Discoveries: Lots!
1. Bless my YouTube algorithm, it brought me a video of a recent JazzArts Charlotte performance by drummer Dwayne Jordan's band Shrimp & Grits. Eminently listenable:
2. And that led me to a pianist Lovell Bradford trio video, with William Ledbetter on bass & Kobe Watkins on drums, from October, paying tribute to great jazz pianists. It swing!
3. The Middle C venue in Charlotte's doing some interesting things. Some of its gigs are on the edges of jazz, but they've got pianist Lovell Bradford & vocalist & NCCU grad Tyra Scott next month, with vibraphonist Christian Tamburr after that. I'll put it on the Home Page venue list (along with JazzArts Charlotte).
This Week: Though I'll wait for more venues to advertise, I have a feeling that this will be an especially good week. I already know there are some fine special events later in February, so the month already looks very good.
