Discoveries:

1. I really enjoyed pianist Lafayette Gilchrist Monday night. He has a distinctive two-handed playing style like no other pianist I know, his left hand more assertive than other players.

2. I sampled guitarist Steve Bernstein & trombonist Steve Turre from Smoke Jazz's smorgasbord of fall highlights. Hearing players I don't know that well was worth it.

Discovery: Yes, another quiet week, but we get two performances by pianist Emmet Cohen--who has used this time to perform every week on his FB from his apartment, often with guest artists. This week he does his FB thing Monday night with vocalist Jazzmeia Horn & at Dizzys/Jazz At Lincoln Center Thursday night with venerable saxist Houston Person & astounding young vocalist Samara Joy.
