1. Last night was snowed & iced out! So I find out the Tarbaby trio got postponed to Saturday night, leaving me the luxury of watching the UNC jazz faculty play. Not! That gig's postponed to Saturday night too, causing more choice problems.
2. Al Strong's audio & visual interpretation of "Life Every Voice & Sing"--LEVAS--is marvelous. I watched it this morning. Not only is it a national cultural statement, but it's tribute to African-Americans who make Durham what it is.
3. I heard some fine "piano bar" music yesterday. Local organist Doug Largent has been working with Cary's Cornerstone Presbyterian Church music director, Grant Osborne, for the last few months to find the best way to capture their music. With the aid of a church drummer, they put together this "rehearsal" video that's worth sitting & listening to: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/918422817
4. The Village Vanguard finally advertised its Fri-Saturday gig (available for 48 hours after ticket buy): Venerable drummer Billy Harts leads a solid quartet. Details below.
