Discovery: I'm typing while listening to Keenan McKenzie's Riffers band opens Lindy Focus--one of the biggest swing dance events of any year--on 12/29. In his band are many local faves, the most surprising to me, at first, NYC-based pianist Sean Mason. The latter has said he likes to play as a sideman with everyone, so I'm a believer. If you want to listen &/or dance, go to:
You can also connect to other Lindy Focus events via the above. Have a good day! Discoveries:
1. Emmet Cohen's Monday jam last night with two pianists with local ties--Jeb Patton (Duke grad) & the mercurial Sean Mason (UNCG-started)--was a gas, ending with six hands on one piano: 2. Peter Lamb & the Wolves have a live recording from Bond Brothers Eastside: Enjoy! |
