1. I'm enjoying Scott Sawyer's class at the Durham Jazz Workshop. Scott's covering his personal guitar history, starting with Chicago blues, blues playing having led him into jazz playing.
2. Listening to both Jason Moran's Bandwagon Trio & the Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra take one into unfamiliar territory. That's not a warning; it's the way it is. They both take you places you can't go to around here.
3. I decided against the rigamarole of registering with Chris Jazz Cafe in Philadelphia. The latter seems to put all its performances in its on-demand link, so I'll let you know when something good is available (e.g., Orrin Evans Trio this weekend.
4. Sometimes online links fool me. So I write that Miguel Zenon's performance with pianist Luis Perdomo should be available beyond Friday evening on his Facebook site. Nope. There's a video blurb for the performance on there, but not the performance. I suspect there may have been payment required. I'll keep hunting it...
I'll review this week tomorrow since key sites aren't up yet...
