This week starts the avalanche of extravore jazz: Tony Bennett Wednesday at DPAC, Kurt Elling at Duke's Baldwin Auditorium Friday night, a sold-out Tierney Sutton at Sharp Nine Sunday night, etc., etc. I'll catch some of those but can't afford all, knowing that cheaper local jazz is still happening at Sharp Nine, the Beyu, the Shed, C Grace, Unvined, & the Halle Arts Center. So, be distracted by all that internationally famous talent
Peter Burke has liked jazz since he was in high school. Having lived & worked in exotic places with & without local jazz scenes, he has also led a Guide To Local Jazz class in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Duke.
