Tomorrow night Ernest Turner has his regular gig at the Shed. Worth seeing.
Monday & Tuesday night guitarist John Westmoreland--who I know only from the West African music band Kaira Ba--is at the Granary down at Fearrington Village. The delicate acoustic playing I heard on his Reverb Nation site will make me take in his Tuesday performance. The Fearrington Village site has details.
If you haven't got tix for pianist Ryan Hanseler's last Beyu performance before moving to Amsterdam on Thursday night, put down your brunch silverware & buy tickets! It will be a blast full of local musicians.
On Friday, while I'm looking for a seat at Motorco during Art of Cool to see pianist Kris Bowers & saxophonist Kenny Garrett (wish me luck), you have many non-AOC options: the Gregg Gelb quartet at C Grace; Mint Julep Jazz Band at G2B Gastropub; Doug Largent at the Honeysuckle Tea House in Chapel Hill; & a batch of NCCU jazz professors at Cuban Revoluion. There's plenty of jazz to go around!
