Tonight is the Ella Bertram CD release party--around a bonfire, with hot cider--at Rock Quarry Farm on NC 54 just west of Carrboro. Ella's could easily be imagined on '20s & '30s old timey country 78s. Plus, she's aided & abetted by the ultra-eclectic violinist Jennifer Curtis (see below).
Tomorrow night is pianist Eric Hirsh (see current Indy Week) & the Mallarme Quartet exploring the Cuban danzon.
Monday night Jen Curtis is involved again--as she often is in so many ways--with singer Gabriel Kahane & the NC Symphony string quartet. I again refer you to the current Indy Week's spotlight for details.
All this not-jazz keeps me fresh because I crave difference...
