My name is Peter Burke, & I am a binge listener. This is my story...
For three weekends in a row I have gone to more than one gig in five of six nights--because I wanted to hear all those performers. Yes, it gave me the related Music Fatigue condition (temporarily) but it was worth it:
--The Jim Ketch Swingtet at Sharp Nine. They're back there 12/9. Do not miss them
--Joey Calderazzo doing his best to play with an out of tune piano at the Beyu. Go see him where the piano is in tune.
--The Scott Sawyer Quartet & the Keith Ganz Quartet, both at Sharp Nine. Except for the constant of Dave Finucane, different lineups, all playing together, so easily that the quality seemed simple.
--Fighting to hear pianist Ernest Turner & saxist Stephen Riley play under the roar of talk at Alley 26 is worth it. For an easier time, go to Sharp Nine 10/21 for an incredible experience.
--Lois Deloatch-Gomes returns after a year's hiatus, selling out two Beyu shows. Can't wait for the next gig...
Extravore Jazz Peripatesis: Saw the edgy, noisy Billy Hart Quartet via Duke Performances last night. Exciting but not moving...
