OK, that's out of my system. The local scene quiets this week, but Wynton Marsalis is at UNC Friday night with the Jazz At Lincoln Center big band, always a popular performance. It also forced the NCJRO Christmas performance to a sold-out Sharp Nine Tuesday night. If you want to catch the NCJRO there, buy tickets early as they sell out with grim, great regularity.
The best locavore performance this week should be at a different venue, the Pour House in Raleigh, where Al Strong has put combined his band with some of his favorite soulish,, r&b-ish jazzish performers on Thursday night. More info on his website's link on the LJ home page. I plan to be there.
If not that, consider Ernest Turner at Beyu Thursday night at Beyu. For some reason most Thursday nights there turn out to be rollicking.
For locavores on Friday, the Kobie Watkins Grouptet is at Sharp Nine. If I wasn't obligated to something else that night, I'd be there. I guarantee they will swing!
