Meanwhile, having done fine work with the Beast & Orquestra Gardel, Eric Hirsh debuted a number of his own compositions, with Aaron Hill ably complementing the trio on (primarily) an alto sax, the sound of which keenly accented the melodiousness of most of those tunes. Having just checked updated performance dates on Eric's website, I recommend both his duo with Aaron Hill at the Brasa Brazilian Steakhouse on Friday May 23 & a return to the Beyu on Thursday May 29. He deserves reinforcement for getting his music out to us!
The Locavore Jazz menu stay full of choices this week:

Friday 5/16: Doug Largent at the West End Wine Bar 8pm; & alto saxophonist Brian Miller at the Beyu 8 & 10pm.
Saturday 5/17: Pianist Ryan Hanseler at C Grace 9pm; the "Guitar Summit" at the Beyu 8 & 10pm.
Sunday 5/18: Swing jazz band the Onyx Club Boys at Weaver Street in Carrboro 11:30 for those needing some al fresco Djangoesque swing.
